Gala 2008 Tome “Cells”

The following forty nine (49) images are low-resolution counterparts to the collector animation still images (11” x 6.875” @ 300 dpi) mounted inside the Gala 2008 Tome. They are a sequence that tell the story of Juanita Goldmann who, at age 15 in 1898, wrote a diary while attending Burrell School here in the Santa Cruz Mountains (between San Jose and Santa Cruz, California). This animation was shown just prior to the fundraiser live auction.

My thanks go to Marlene Wiley who publishes the Mountain Network News for allowing me access to Juanita’s diary. Although Juanita and her diary are real, the pages reproduced here are historical fiction born from my imagination. Thank you to Gordon Smedt for allowing me to use his “Stars and Stripes” oil on canvas image within Fae’s fireplace mirror (tome-36.png).

Animation and rendering was done entirely in NewTek’s LightWave 3D 9.3.1.

16,124 frames at 30 fps. 8 minutes 58 seconds in length.
